Hello! I’m Jessica Miller, coordinator of the Reno County Growth Coalition. Thank you for visiting our website. I’m particularly proud of the Reno County community and the quality of life it affords all residents. Rest assured - if you’re considering a move to our county, you won’t be disappointed.
I myself am a transplant to Reno County. Since moving here in 2003, I’ve been pleasantly surprised by the spirit and good nature of this county of more than 63,000 people. I love that the community offers much for people to do … free water parks, the Dillon Nature Center, Hutchinson Zoo, Skateboard Park, and even a Dog Park are not often features of communities our size. Nor are major museums, yet you’ll find the impressive Kansas Cosmosphere and Space Center and the Kansas Underground Salt Museum here.
There’s also golf, and the Symphony, Fox Theater, Third Thursdays, and Tech Hops. The Family Children’s Theater, The Monarch’s baseball team, Hutchinson Community College, bountiful Farmers Markets, live music venues, the Young Professionals organization, and hike and bike trails.
The county offers fabulous senior housing options and a vibrant senior citizen community. Education is highly valued and every school district is committed to providing a quality education to all students. The Volunteer Center annually matches hundreds of people to local organizations in need of extra hands.
Some of my personal favorites include when the Kansas State Fair takes place in September and Hyde Park residents light up the streets with luminaries in December. I love the Pumpkin Patch in Turon, the homemade bread I buy in Yoder, the annual Pretty Prairie rodeo, and oh my, the list goes on!
Most of all, however, I love knowing I’m among a community of people who also are proud to live here and want to do their part to make things even better.
Welcome to Reno County! Please don’t hesitate to
