Reno County's educational system offers six unified school districts, varying in size from
larger settings to smaller rural schools, and private, faith-based programs. Each is rich in
technology and has a wide range of offerings and unique strengths while collaborating
together to secure a bright future for central Kansas. Regardless of district size and
location, students have access to the same advanced experiences. Hutchinson
Community College and Area Vocational School is located in Reno County and works
cooperatively with the school districts to offer college credit courses.

Hutchinson Public Schools, USD 308, is the largest of Reno County's school districts and serves students located in the City of Hutchinson. The district operates eight elementary schools, one middle school on two campuses, and a high school with a variety of advanced course offerings. Students at every level have access to involvement in athletics and the fine arts. Quality management programs have been adopted at all levels. The elementary schools participate in the "Koalaty Kid Program", a student-centered, customized approach to continuous improvement. The high school offers the International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme, an internationally recognized pre-university program. The entire district is pursuing the Malcolm Baldrige National Quality Award, a process for excellence across every level. All buildings have a local area network and wireless network access and all computer equipment is less than three years old. |

In rural Pretty Prairie, the offerings are varied compared to schools of similar size. The district has one elementary school, one middle school, and a high school. The middle school takes advantage of small class sizes by teaching through a technology enriched classroom initiative. Generation Yes is a program that encourages the use of project-based learning and student-led classroom instruction with the teacher serving as facilitator. The high school curriculum offers a high number of advanced courses including computer science, physics, chemistry, advanced biology, upper-division mathematics, and foreign languages. |

The Haven USD 312 district's three elementary schools are located in Haven, Mt. Hope and Partridge. Both the middle school and the high school are located in Haven. Yoder and Pleasantview also host two unique charter schools. Yoder educates students, kindergarten through eighth grade, while Pleasantview works with students, ages kindergarten through 12th grade. There, students, parents and teacher/facilitators collaborate to design individual programs that are intellectually rich, concept-based and learner-centered. Academic assistance in after school programs is available, and the computer to student ratio is two to one. |

The Nickerson/South Hutchinson school district, USD 309, consists of two elementary schools, Reno Valley Middle School, and Nickerson High School. The district's focus begins early, with the Parents as Teachers program, pre-school for four year-olds, and all day, every day kindergarten. At all levels athletics are an important aspect of the total education process, providing an understanding of the concepts of sportsmanship and teamwork. Technology plays an important role at USD 309 where laptops are available for all students in grades 7-12. College-bound students may enroll in college courses offered both on campus and at HCC. |

The Fairfield school district, USD 310, serves students in southwest Reno County, including the communities of Abbyville, Arlington, Plevna, Langdon, Sylvia, and Turon. The district operates two elementary schools (one in Arlington and one in Sylvia) and offers all-day kindergarten. A combined middle/high school serves students in grades six through 12 and is located north of Langdon. The schools offer intensive tutoring for struggling students and difficult to schedule class offerings via a program called Directed Studies. The high school provides several classes for its students through Interactive Television. |

Guided by the mission that all students and staff will excel in a safe, caring and collaborative environment, the Buhler (USD 313) district is located in the northeast part of Reno County and includes the city of Buhler, a portion of suburban Hutchinson, and surrounding residential tracts and rural farms. The district offers a wide variety of opportunities through advanced placement courses and extra-curricular activities. USD 313 has four elementary schools, a middle school and a high school. Two of the elementary schools serve children pre-kindergarten through sixth grade. One of the elementary schools serves pre-kindergarten through third grade children. In addition, one elementary school is a fourth through sixth grade learning center. All elementary students are offered an after-school program. The middle school serves seventh and eighth grade students. Students at the high school level have the opportunity to participate in a wide variety of sports. |

Hutchinson Catholic Schools offer three fully-accredited attendance centers including two grade schools for students in grades pre-kindergarten through 6th grade. Trinity Catholic Junior/Senior High School provides classes from 7th to 12th grade. Guided by their mission - "A Catholic Learning Community" - students at all of the schools participate in a variety of charitable causes. All teachers are certified and accredited by the Kansas State Board of Education. Students at the junior and senior high levels have plenty of extracurricular activities and sports, including some in conjunction with USD 308. |

Central Christian School is a K-12 private, interdenominational school. Fully accredited by the Association of Christian Schools, International, the school is also a member of the Kansas State High School Activities Association. The school is associated with the Heart of the Plains League, and high school and junior high students may participate in a wide variety of extracurricular activities. |

The Reno Entrepreneurial Development Institute (REDI) is a unique learning center for high school juniors and seniors in Central Kansas. The program is located in the Quest Center for Entrepreneurs in Hutchinson and is recommended for students who desire to own a business of their own. Students exhibit independence and responsibility as they choose a product or service and proceed through the steps of creating a business plan and developing marketing strategies. Students interact with business founders, owners, and chief executives as part of the REDI learning process and have the opportunity to participate in various business competitions. Optional college credit for partici- pation is offered through Hutchinson Community College. |

The Early Education Center (EEC) is a division of the Training and Evaluation Center of Hutchinson, Inc. Based on the belief that early detection and access to educational and developmental expertise for both parents and children may be keys to a successful future, the EEC offers several programs and services including offerings for: premature and high-risk infants; special needs children birth to three-years-old; integration of special needs three and four-year-olds with children who have appropriately developed; children with mild speech problems; and services for children with similar needs in other preschool or daycare settings. |

A rich tradition of excellence surrounds Reno County's this historic community college. Since 1928, the institution has provided quality educational opportunities in a variety of areas of study. The school offers vocational and technical education in one- and two-year programs that lead to 15 certificate and 25 associate degree opportunities. Transfer study opportunities also are available, where students can complete basic requirements at HCC and then continue at four-year institutions around the state and nation. In addition, a host of distance education opportunities are available, allowing students to learn at their convenience from home. Evening and weekend courses, designed primarily for working adults of all ages, and an active Business and Industry program that helps with training and certification for workers and managers are also offered. |
